Twitter & Hashtags

As some have previously mentioned, I want to use the option to pull tags as hashtags for our site. However, we use way more tags than the character limit on twitter allows, and most of them aren’t really relevant to the post in terms of social media.

I saw one suggestion for creating a custom field and putting hashtags there. However, is there a way to have just that new custom field display when writing a post? When I select “Custom Fields” from the “Screen Options” Menu, it produces a very lengthy list of what appears to auto-generated options for custom fields. Is there something I can do to prevent this and only see one?

Or, is there another work around to pull only certain tags to be made into hashtags?
