To Moderator: I am posting here the below issue, to see if anyone else is experiencing a Fatal 500 Error across their websites? Whereby theses same websites have the SNAP Pro Version activated. To all, please read and respond, thank you.
WP SNAP Pro Version Causes Fatal Error 500. This happened on Friday, April 13th,2018, at 6:30 PM. (MST). Nothing was changed on the site. The PHP Fatal error found in the WP Debug log, is caused by SNAP’s License Server, changing something in it’s server code, regarding checking the license key for Pro versions of SNAP. This has caused all PRO Customers to now experience a Fatal Error 500 on their websites. Until they deactivate their SNAP Pro version helper plugin.
No website can now use the WP Pro Version. Please fix asap. Thank you.
I also tried the Pro version Helper Plugin 1.5.5. It did not help, same fatal 500 error. I just tried it now. The SNAP Plugin works fine, it is the Pro Version Helper Plugin, which is causing the error. I get these errors:
WP Debug Log: [14-Apr-2018 03:00:22 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Can’t use method return value in write context in /wp-content/plugins/nxs-snap-pro-upgrade/nxs-snap-pro-upgrade.php(40) : eval()’d code on line 60
You are getting that because your PHP is EXTREMELY OLD. This error appears only on PHP 5.4 or earlier.

It’s already PHP 7.2. PHP 7 is about 4 times faster then PHP 5. Only this should be the reason to upgrade. More and more code will stop supporting outdated PHP versions. Please consider upgrade and you won’t be hitting issues like this.
Also PHP 5.4 has several security issues that are not fixed and not going to be fixed, because it’s no longer supported or updated.
Anyway, please use PHP version that is currently officially supported (http://php.net/supported-versions.php) – PHP 5.6, PHP 7.0, PHP 7.1 or PHP 7.2. SNAP is fully tested and has no issues with any of those versions.
Okay, this has been fix. Here is the instructions given to me by Ludwig. This fixed the issue, and I was able to upgrade both the SNAP and Pro plugins to their current versions.
“Please go to the WordPress database and delete row __plugins_cache_242 from your wp_options table. Then please go to the Help/Support tab and click [Check for API Update].”
Yes, you can do that, but Upgrading your old, slow, outdated, insecure PHP is a much better solution
